About Eileen Sickler

I am a retired CPA with a professional background working with high technology companies in the Boston area and have called Burlington my home for over 38 years.  I’m a self-starter who put my myself through Bentley college starting later in life.  I’ve been described as someone who takes initiative, is determined and respectful of my colleagues.

As an avid reader, my involvement with town governance started in 2003 as a library trustee and served in that role for over 12 years.  For the last nine years, I’ve been an active Town Meeting Member including time serving on the Rules Committee, Town Meeting Transportation Committee, Housing Partnership Committee (HPC) and currently serving my fifth term on the Town’s Audit Committee.  My decision to run for the Burlington Housing Authority is a natural extension of my membership on the HPC which advocates for affordable housing in Burlington. While serving on the HPC, the committee obtained State funding which helped pay for the Housing Needs Assessment Report which provided housing related facts for Burlington and surrounding communities.

I was also a key proponent of the oversight review of the school’s financial reporting which led to improved reporting and transparency.  Additionally, while on the Transportation Committee, my persistence resulted in the School Committee enrolling in the free state sponsored Safe Routes to School program.

My interests outside of local government range from 20 years in my stock club, golf leagues, book club, garden club and my dog agility club.  You may also find me at the Council on Aging in exercise classes as well as attending many of our great programs offered by the library.

This is the right time to rejuvenate our current Burlington Housing Authority Board and with my knowledge of housing, and accounting and management skills, I am confident I can add value by bringing the same level of engagement as I have over the last 21 years for the town.  My email signature tag line is “Get Involved – the world is run by those who show up”.   As I have proven, not only do I show up, but I get things done.  This is what I will do for the Burlington Housing Authority.
